April 20, 2015 – in line of the 450 Kaplag Anniversary, Augustinian Province of Sto. Niño de Cebu in partnership with SM City Mall – Cebu, holds the Launching of Commemorative Book and Stamps. The primary objective of the event is to draw a consistent awareness to the general public on the historical background and miracles that were wrought by the Holy Child.

The launching took place at SM City Cebu- The Northwing Atrium, witnessed by friends, devotees, religious personalities and society’s prominent names from media, business and government.

Formally started by an opening Prayer of Rev. Fr. Ric Anthony A. Reyes, OSA it was then followed by a welcome message from SM Prime Holdings Inc. Vice President Ms. Marissa N. Fernan.

Ms. Fernan in her short and inspiring welcome message highlighted that she represents the whole SM community in promoting the message of the Holy Child in various means and ways through the people that regularly visits and shops to their malls.

Right after a minute meaningful message, Rev.Fr. Harold Ll. Rentoria OSA- Executive Director of Kaplag 2015 Celebrations brought to the stage the Rationale of the Commemorative book, he stressed out that the Holy Child is somewhat a silent worker and a silent witness to the lives of the people, giving us the hope and providing us the everyday needs and journeying with us in our struggles and triumphs in life. Moreover, Fr. Rentoria extend his gratitude to the people from the past who worked so hard in order to see the light that the current generation is experiencing and being appreciated.

Next in line was Rev. Fr. Czar Emmanuel V. Alvarez, OSA the Editor of the Kaplag 2015 Commemorative Book, shortly yet reasonably discussed what is to be expected on its pages and what excitement it will brought not only to the devotees but also for those who even wish to strengthen their faith.

Inspiringly, Fr. Alvarez as the Editor of the published book shared the three major challenges they encountered along the way of its processing and in coming up for the best result. First challenge according to Fr. Alvarez was the theme, on what particular title would fit to the 450 Kaplag Celebrations. The second challenge that was presented are on what relevant articles to be presented, passed and eventually published. As with this, people who will voluntarily write and share their experiences based on the gifts of faith, results of their dedicated devotion is also part of the difficult times, since individuals that can contribute their time, energy and expertise is so hard to find. Lastly, as with the major challenge is on working with a very limited budget but ensuring that the quality of the book cannot be compromised.

But of these major challenges is only temporary that it cannot surpass the great love to the Holy Child. Fr. Alvarez emphasized that people who made their part to accomplish the necessary elements to actually produce the Commemorative book is of big help to respond to the challenges and eventually succeed in spreading the good news.
